Isle of Wight Santa Dash Fun Run
Nov 14th, 2009 | By Carolyn Keene | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseIsle of Wight Age Concern are organising a Santa Dash in December and are hoping to inspire and motivate men, women and children to take part in the inaugural Santa Dash Fun Run 2009.
They are looking for willing helpers to don a Santa suit on 12th December and take part in the sponsored fun run of approximately one mile long, around the streets of Newport.
Island Pulse tried to encourage a Santa Dash on the Isle of Wight here: Any One Fancy a Wight Santa Dash?
The event will coincide with the forthcoming Newport Carnival and is open to adults and accompanied children over the age of eight, of any ability. Children are encouraged to wear fancy dress to be topped off with a Santa hat provided by Age Concern Isle of Wight, while adults get a full Santa suit to keep.
Jo Dare, Chief Officer said:
“This is our first Santa Dash, and we hope it will become a welcome addition to the festive calendar. We would love families, work colleagues and friends to join in the run, and help us to support more older people on the Island”.
