Isle of Wight Radio Sold To Island Consortium

Radio Industry News reports: New Owners For Isle of Wight Radio. A consortium has been set up featuring the current management of the station, which includes, Paul Topping and Claire Willis, who believe that putting the Island community at the heart of the radio station is the key to its future success.
Isle of Wight Radio has been sold by UKRD /The Local Radio Company to the current management of the station. As the station enters its 20th year on air, the team will help take Isle of Wight Radio back to its roots in being truly ‘local’ radio for the Island.”
Claire Willis, former Area Director for The Local Radio Company joins forces with the current Isle of Wight Radio Programme Controller, Paul Topping to take the station forward into its 20th year on air.
Ian Walker, also joins the consortium, he already has a wealth of radio industry knowledge, heading up one of the UK’s largest screen, staging and events companies. The natural synergy between Ian’s company and the radio station gives the new team exciting areas to explore for future growth on the Island.
Completing the new ownership is Hedley Finn MBE, founder of the now international Radio Lollipop and the man who helped to establish the first commercial radio network version of the Top 40. Hedley has strong connections with the Island, having worked in the local health service for many years.
