Isle of Wight Open Studios 2009
Jan 13th, 2009 | By Jenny Button | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseThe Isle of Wight Open Studios event, which allows access to a huge variety of artistic backgrounds, disciplines and mediums; was a great success last year, with over 5000 visitors to 70 studios.
The Island’s diverse geography is matched by a wealth of local artists who open their studios and homes to the public each year. What better way to spend a weekend than browsing, greeting and chatting with local artists whilst getting a feel for our micro-climate, our downs and beaches and rocky coastline that is never the same in two towns.
The event is running again in 2009 on the following dates: 17-20th July in South & West Wight and 24-27th July in North & East Wight.
New for 2009 an Island-wide Christmas Open Studio weekend on 5th & 6th December 2009. Specific details of participating artists can be found in the Arts Directory 09/10 which is available online from March/April 2009 click HERE:
The idea for the Artists Open Studios came about as a result of co-operation between local councils and Arts Council England, South East and is supported by open studio organisers, artists and visual arts organisations across the region. See related website HERE:
