Jul 8th, 2007 | By Amanda Johnson | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

No Mans Land one of the armour-plated forts in the Solent off the Isle of Wight is to be sold after the collapse of Lexi, a commercial property finance business.

The Fort was designed and built in the 1860s to prevent french ironclad warships bombarding Portsmouth, and in WW1 the role of the Fort was revised in order to cope with the new threat of submarines and battleships with greater firepower.

Isle of Wight Fort up for sale: Island Pulse:

The No Mans Land Fort of today has been transformed into a hotel and function venue for high paying guests it provides a world apart in privacy.  The fort is ingeniously equipped for every creature comfort with facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool to a comprehensive business centre for conferences and meetings and two helipads.

The fort is just one of the assets being sold off by administrators at KPMG to recoup up to £100m following the collapse of Lexi after an alleged commercial property fraud.  Shaid Luqman, the former young entrepreneur of the year who ran Lexi, was jailed last week.

It will be interesting to see the Estate Agents blurb on this property, bet there will be a definate guarantee of stunning sea views.
