High Sheriff Celebrating Children & Young People

Feb 8th, 2010 | By Amanda Johnson | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

Do you know of a child or young person who has overcome significant difficulties in his or her life or has participated in an activity that has had a positive impact on him or herself, or on others?  If so the Isle of Wight High Sheriff wants to know!

Nominations are being sought for a young person to receive a new award: The High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight Certificate Celebrating Children and Young People.  Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Hampton Trust website here:

Each nomination will go to the Isle of Wight Youth Inclusion Forum (YIF), which is chaired by the High Sheriff, Gay Edwards (pictured).  Each young person who receives a certificate will be invited to a presentation at the annual  Wight 2B Heard conference at Quay Arts from 5pm to 7pm on Friday 5th March 2010.

The Isle of Wight Youth Inclusion Forum:  is about helping young people help themselves, each other and others in their community, connecting them to where they live and the people they live with in their neighbourhoods. The Forum is part of the Children and Young People’s Trust and contributes to the delivery of the Children, Young People and Families Plan as well as the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) and the delivery of the Partnership Plan. The Forum chaired by the High Sheriff is testament to the fact that a partnership of the police, different services across the Isle of Wight Council, the NHS, Fire and Rescue and the voluntary sector meeting together in a room with energy, enthusiasm and resources can make a positive difference to the lives of young people here on the Isle of Wight.

Please Note: The closing date for nomination forms is 19th February 2010. Only entries completed on the nomination form on the website here: will be included.

Completed forms should be sent to Tara Doel at The Hampton Trust, Fairways House, Mount Pleasant Road, Southampton, SO14 0QB. Alternatively, nominations can be made via telephone to 023 8021 3520 or via email to tara.doel@hamptontrust.org.uk
