Hidden Britain a national community project, to encourage tourism, to lesser known areas of the countryside, has now formed links with National Tourism Agencies, of which the Isle of Wight could benefit from an increase in community action.
When you visit Hidden Britain you can experience the small pleasures of real country life, all created by the local community, and now boast a partner page on Enjoy England Â
Whilst the Hidden Britain scheme rolled out nationally in 2006, it would appear the Isle of Wight communities are in the minority as only Brading and Wootton are noted for the Island.
Hidden Britain, aims to help rural communities to boost the local area through small-scale tourism projects, is now proving to be a very effective way to draw more visitors to less well-known areas of the countryside around Britain.
This can be achieved by Isle of Wight communities themselves:
+ Drawing up the plans
+ Implementing the projects
+ Participating in the benefits
+ Having the support and guidance of a national network
Benefits to the local community include:
+ Promotion of local business
+ Encouragement of local employment
+ Enhancement of the local community life
