IW Community Action Awards

After a two year break, the Isle of Wight Rural Community Action Awards are back with the cash.

The Community Action Awards aim to highlight and reward voluntary effort that seeks to improve community life on the Isle of Wight.  It is open to voluntary groups/organisations and both new projects and ongoing activities.

The competition, organised by the IW Rural Community Council, this year is following a new format. Projects will be judged on the achievements of their volunteers, originality, good organisation, planning and an efficient use of their resources.

  • The winning cash prize will be £1,500, with a runner up prize of £500.
  • Categories include: children and young people, environmental, arts and heritage, older people, local communities and sport.
  • Each category winner will receive £250 and each category runner up £100. The overall winning organisation and runner up will be chosen from the winners of each category.

Entries are being accepted now and the closing date for completed applications is 5th May 2010.
