Staff and service users at Isle of Wight Council run respite centre Westminster House are staging a party to celebrate the home’s big “Three-O” this Friday September 28th.

There is an open invitation to former service users and staff to join current employees and service users staying at the home for the party. Everyone is invited to a drop-in from 12 midday until 6pm and a party and disco which will run from 7pm until midnight at the home which is based in Westminster Lane in Newport.

The Westminster House Residential and Day Respite Care centre provides care for adults with learning disabilities.  During its 30 year history, it has enabled hundreds of Island families who have members with learning disabilities to maintain their family existence by providing quality respite provision.

Ten single bedrooms at the home can provide a varied respite provision for service users who can also take part in activities which focus on social, educational and life skills which encourage independence and participation.

Both Isle of Wight Council Chairman, Councillor Roger Mazillius, and Councillor Dawn Cousins, Isle of Wight Council’s cabinet member for Island Health and Community Well Being said:

“Westminster House has served the Isle of Wight for three decades by providing an invaluable service to people with leaning disabilities and their families.

“It is only right that we celebrate that success and I look forward to going to their party and taking part in the festivities. I would like to thank everyone who has provided this service.”

During the celebratory party, it is hoped that many present and past professionals, carers and service users will attend the open day and party.
