Jan 17th, 2008 | By Island Pulse | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

The Isle of Wight Council library service will be closing most of its branch libraries for one day at noted dates (see below) in late January and early February to enable staff training on an improved computer record system.

The computer record system will target borrowers with details of books they may be interested in – based on records of their previous borrowings.  The new system will go live in March this year and will provide customers and staff with improved issuing and catalogue facilities.

Branch library closure dates are as follows:

Ryde Library – Tuesday, January 29

Newport Library – Wednesday, January 30

Bembridge Library – Tuesday, February 5

Cowes Library – Tuesday, February 5

Freshwater Library – Tuesday, February 5

Sandown Library – Tuesday, February 5

East Cowes Library – Wednesday, February 6

Niton Library – Wednesday, February 6

Shanklin Library- Wednesday, February 6

Ventnor Library – Wednesday, February 6.

Isle of Wight Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused but assures customers that the training will allow staff to provide an even better service in future.
