Isle of Wight Blue Cheese Batch Recalled.
Dec 21st, 2007 | By Island Pulse | In: Community, Islandwide, Isle of Wight
Routine testing by Isle of Wight Cheese Company director and cheesemaker Richard Hodgson has revealed a batch of blue cheese produced by the IW Cheese Company is infected with *Listeria and is being recalled.
Richard Hodgson has taken a responsible approach and is requesting customers return the affected products with the batch number 45 05 01.
About 230 packets of the award winning Blue Cheese from the batch have already been sold at Newport and Ryde farmers markets and at delicatessens and farm shops across the Island.
Full refunds will be given to customers and they can return the products to Friday’s Farmers’ Market in Newport tomorrow or to the Farmers’ Market in Ryde on Saturday, or the January 4th Newport market or Ryde the following day.
*Listeria produces flu-like symptoms and diarrhoea and is particularly dangerous in pregnancy and to elderly people and those with lowered immune systems.
