Met Office forecasters are predicting a contrast in weather fortunes across the UK this Bank Holiday weekend. Metcheck have an advanced weather warning out for high rainfall totals which could lead to local flooding across the South-east.
The low pressure pushing up from the South will bring rain, some of it very heavy at times across parts of South-west, Southern and South-eastern England.
Despite some showers in the south, Saturday looks like being the driest of the weekend days across the country.
However, heavy rain will push into the South and South-east during Saturday and into Sunday morning. Winds picking up too with a gale force Easterly developing across Southern and Central areas. In fact, we could see winds of up to 50mph across Central England during Sunday. During Monday, the rain will push further North, hardly anywhere will escape it
Met Office senior forecaster Will Lang said,
“People should keep up to date with the weather forecast when making their plans for the Bank Holiday weekend. The heavy rain, strong winds and low temperatures across southern Britain on Sunday and Monday will give an unpleasant combination for those planning to be outdoors in the south.”
The highest rainfall totals are likely to be over southern England and East Anglia. The Met Office will be working closely with partner organisations to ensure people receive the best possible weather and travel advice in the run-up to, and during the weekend.
