Ian Mitchell In Niton On Cuba

Isle of Wight Photographer Ian Mitchell has been invited to Niton & District Camera Club in November, to provide an interesting, if not cultural, travelogue of his many visits to Cuba.

As an accomplished photographer and well known Angel Radio presenter, Ian (pictured) first visited Cuba in April 1997.  

Presenting a digital diffusion of celebrity gossip, music, history, politics and of course photography from his fascinating journeys.   Ian will recount meetings with, Swedish photographer Jan Olofsson and significant others including:

*Alberto Korda – the photographer who took “that” iconic photograph of Che Guevara.
*Gregorio Fuentes – Ernest Hemingway’s former boatman and captain of “The Pilar”, considered by some to be the inspiration for “The old man of the sea”.
*Philip Agee – former CIA agent and whistleblower with whom he spent the night (an overnight flight from Havana to London) over a glass or two of El Ron.
