The Island’s first good news TV channel, VentnorTV.com, is gearing up to brighten up the collective misery with a commitment to broadcast good news online.
- VentnorTV is a group of people in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight who got fed up with all the malice, mayhem and misery that starts off news broadcasts on TV and radio…
The internet-based TV company is staffed by local volunteers, including both experts and amateurs, with the aim of producing a positive, newsy weekly programme, readily available for viewing through the net.
The man behind the idea, Louis Lawrence says:
‘We have got our own TV jingle, thanks to Cowes High School, and viewers will soon associate this jolly tune with upbeat programmes on the arts, sports, lifestyle and well-being. Regular slots will include things like our ‘Guide to easy well-being column’ with Ventnor’s resident expert, Yoga Jo.
We have a good, lively team together already, spanning all ages and interests; we are looking for more volunteers to report on sports and the arts, and we need a business manager. We provide training for those who need it.’
The company are also looking for sponsors, and for a permanent home. ‘We just need a large room for a studio space,’ says Louis. ‘At this stage we can’t pay, but we will offer use of the facilities to any organisation who can help us with this.’
