Isle of Wight council gritters will be out salting the roads from 7pm tonight.
Met Office weather forecasters advise: A frontal band of cloud and wintry precipitation is slowly drifting southwards with cold air following from the north, leading to a risk of ice.
Outbreaks of rain and sleet will be clearing southwards on Tuesday night and early Wednesday, leaving surfaces wet and prone to freezing as skies clear and temperatures fall.
The public should be aware of the potential for increased iciness, especially early on Wednesday, and possible disruption to travel.
Make sure you always take care when driving in cold and icy conditions and always ensure your vehicle is clear of ice before setting off.
