The Angling Trust in association with Sport England are offering training opportunities on the Isle of Wight for those interested in obtaining recognised qualifications in coaching angling, as coaches at Level 1 or Level 2. Courses are to be held at the Riverside Centre, in February, March and April 2010 (see dates below).
There is growing number of people of all ages interested in the benefits of angling and it’s codes of conduct, respect for others and wildlife and in serving the community.
The places are offered on a strictly limited basis and is an ideal opportunity for an interested educationalist or aspirant angling coach as an entry level qualification or retired or part time voluntary sector prospective applicant.
Working with key partners, the Angling Development Board aims to establish an infrastructure to develop the sport of angling within England. This includes working alongside national, regional and local angling and non-angling organisations.
Courses will be held at the Riverside Centre, Newport Harbour..
- The dates for Level 1 are ;Mar.28th & April 25th 2010
- The dates for Level 2 are ;February 20th/21st, March 13th/14th, March 27th & April 24th 2010.
- The cost to attend is £212 for a Level 1 course and £437 for the Level 2 qualification.
Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Angling
This certificate is awarded by 1st4sport Qualifications and has been developed in partnership with the Angling Development Board (ADB).
The L1CCA is a Vocational Related Qualification (VRQ) that provides an opportunity to study and be assessed for both the practical and theoretical aspects of coaching angling.
Candidates are required to be at least 16 years of age and the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Angling is run over a period of two days.
Level 2 Certificate
The L2CCA is a Vocational Related Qualification (VRQ) that provides an opportunity to study and be assessed for both the practical and theoretical aspects of coaching angling. The knowledge gained will enable candidates to develop an understanding of safe, ethical and effective angling coaching.
The L2CCA has been awarded UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) approval and will be a component of the ADB’s UKCC endorsed coach education programme.

Candidates are required to be at least 17 years of age.

Candidates must have experience of angling in at least one context (sea, coarse or game).

Level 2 applicants should already be in possession of a Level 1 certificate.

In some circumstances evidence of prior learning can be accepted for exemption i.e. FE Qualification or L1 Qualification or above in another sport.
