Golfers Get Captured With The Ryder Cup On Wight

An incredible and unique sporting experience has opened up for all golf fans across the Isle of Wight.  As this weekend only, the Ryder Cup, possibly the most famous of golfing trophies, is making a special guest appearance at Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club. 

Golfers from across the Island, are being invited to see the Ryder Cup at close quarters, and there is also an opportunity to be photographed with the iconic trophy.

The Ryder Cup will be in the Clubhouse between 11am and 4pm on Saturday 28th, and between 10am and 2pm on Sunday 29th July. 

Anyone wishing to have their photo taken with this iconic trophy are asked to contact Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club on 403217, to be assured of an allotted time in which to be immortalised.  Photographs will cost £15 each, with proceeds going to the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

David Wright, the PGA’s Heritage Curator and David Woodhouse, Captain of Shanklin & Sandown have been instrumental in bringing the Ryder Cup to the Island.

Once the Ryder Cup leaves Shanklin & Sandown it will head north to the Belfry before crossing the Atlantic to await the 39th US v European encounter at Medinah Country Club, Chicago, Illinois in September.
