Get online week takes place between 18th and 24th October, it’s all about getting people started with computers and the internet!
In the past events have only happened in UK online centres. However, for Get Online week 2010 any organisation in the UK can hold a Get Online week event, big or small.
This year’s national Get Online Week – www.getonlineweek.com - takes place from 18th to 24th October 2010 and aims to get tens of thousands of people started with computers and the internet.
With over 3,000 events planned across the UK, helping 80,000 people to get online, getting to grips with computers and the internet is easy.
The main focus of Get Online Week 2010 is a fun online game called ‘Splash and Grab’ New and old users to the internet are being encouraged to practice basic computer skills and get a chance to win some fabulous prizes including, an Apple iPad in the Get Online prize draw!
There are 10 million adults in the UK who don’t use the internet, and with services going online and most new jobs now requiring internet skills, they could be missing out on all sorts of benefits, opportunities and savings.
When people register with Splash and Grab, they’re automatically registered with myguide – www.myguide.gov.uk – so they also get a free email account and access to loads of free and easy bite-sized computer courses.
