Are you keeping an eye out for the Isle of Wight invasion of the Gallybaggers?  If you take a trip through the villages of Gatcombe and Chillerton next weekend you will be sure of a big surprise.

This year villagers are expecting over 100 scarecrows, to be exhibited outside of peoples houses and on the village green. The attraction is open to all comers and is easily viewed between 28th May – 4th Jun 2011 either from a car ot on foot.

And the best thing of all is that it is totally FREE.

Last year, in 2010, The Gatcombe and Chillerton Scarecrow Festival was born. Young and old residents, thought “outside of the box” and came up with some very original ideas.

So successful was the event that it won the prestigious top GOLD award in The Access For All category of the Beautiful South Tourism Awards, staged by The Tourist Board.
