Isle of Wight Police are making a fresh appeal for witnesses after an alleged assault in Sandown.

Two men were travelling in a red R-reg Nissan Almera that drove into the car park of Colonel Bogeys night club in Fort Street, Sandown.

As the men were looking for a parking space, it’s alleged two other men approached the car, and began assaulting the driver and passenger while they were still inside the vehicle.

The two suspects are then alleged to have damaged the car as the victims drove away.

The incident happened in the Colonel Bogeys night club car park next to the smokers’ area between 12.40am and 12.50am on the morning of Saturday, October 11.

Outside the nightclub at this time were a number of people who are likely to have witnessed what happened.

Two men, both aged 19, and from the Sandown area, were later arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.

Both were bailed until November 13 pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information, or who saw what happened, is asked to contact PC Ellis Butler at Shanklin Police Station on 0845 045 45 45, or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
