FREE Stargazing LIVE at Island Planetarium

The Island Planetarium STARLOG Club in West Wight will be holding free stargazing and astro-events each evening this week 23rd January to 28th January at Fort Victoria Country Park.

In conjunction with the BBC 2 series Stargazing LIVE 2012, members of STARLOG (Isle of Wight) astrology club invite children, families and individuals from across the Island to investigate our night skies further and get out, about and starry eyed

There will be stargazing evenings if clear or in digital simulation planetarium if not. Also there will be a number of short star talks each evening including:

“Stars we see every night and finding the Pole Star” -
“Why star patterns change throughout the year” -
“How did we find the distance to the stars ? ” -

Entry to Stargazing Live Events is FREE but donations to STARLOG Club would be appreciated.

In addition the Island Planetarium itself offers a fascinating journey through time and space; stimulating your imagination and mind, in the astrodome theatre and exhibition.

This man-made Universe will take you places you have never been before, from the surface of the Moon to the depth of outer space in the ASTRODOME 360 STAR-THEATRE.

Space-science  displays, space art and computer simulations in the exhibition area. There is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the work of the great scientist/inventor Robert Hooke, born in Freshwater in 1635.
