Free CRB Checks For Island Volunteers.
Jan 17th, 2008 | By Jenny Button | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseSome good news for volunteer groups who work with children on the Isle of Wight, to encourage more public participation the government have relaxed fees payable in respect of Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks.
This will allow groups to plan their activities with certainty and ensure the money from fees previously payable can now be used to help not hinder voluntary group activities.
Reaffirming the Government’s commitment that volunteers will not have to pay for police (CRB) checks that are required for volunteers working with children and in other sensitive roles
Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector said:
“The Government values the huge contribution that volunteers make to our society and this commitment is just a small part of our ongoing work to remove barriers to volunteering and encourage more people to get involved.â€
