Thabani Nyoni Free Afro Beat @ Boathouse in the Spyglass Inn

Appearing with T-Bone Afrika are local musicians Jamie Thorpe on guitar and hopefully Norman King on sax and a vocalist (to be confirmed).  The line up include the rythym of the Djembé and Thabani Nyoni’s fabulous voice. Thabani last appeared on the Island at the Isle of Wight Jazz Festival.

T-BONE AFRIKA is an artist from the shores of Bulawayo, Southern Africa, the music is a cocktail, of sweet, melodious southern african influences, which is fused with the sublime brushes of funk arrangements: This is music we like to call AFRO BEAT!

T-BONE AFRIKA sings with a passion which invokes Fela Kuti, Thomas Mapfumo, Brenda Fasai and Yousou Nodoyou!! The songs are based on ancient african rituals from the smooth love song – “LOBOLLA” which tells of the arrangement between a man yearning to marry the girl of his dreams, by asking her father to accept the down payment of the LOBOLLA.

The other songs deal with friendship and betrayal with ‘SNAKES IN THE GRASS’ and the love for the mother in SIBONGILE.

This is sumptious music played with a relaxed air of -Southern  Afro Beat Abandon!

T-BONE AFRIKA will delight all audiences who hear his music.

Wednesday 15th July. Entry is free but a voluntary donation to support an African child is optional.
