FolkStation
Jul 10th, 2009 | By Amanda Johnson | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse10th – 12th July 2009: FolkStation is a special folk festival; certainly not the biggest but it is a unique experience. Located at the award winning Havenstreet steam railway, the festival has built up from a “fringe” group of folk musicians who gathered together to play at railway events over 34-year history of the railway.
Bringing a welcome relief to ‘big festival fatigue’, this weekend, musicians from across the UK, have joined a host of Isle of Wight musicians and bands for a ‘FolkStation’ music festival at Havenstreet.
Music, song, dance and steam … FolkStation offers three days of timeless folk, blues, and folk-rock set within the perfect arena of Havenstreet Station. Come along each day, or book a pitch for your tent and stay all weekend. To complement your visit there will be a full-service of steam trains throughout the weekend, plus real ale bar and a wide range of refreshments.
