Musicians from across the British Isles are heading to the Isle of Wight to join a host of Island musicians and bands for a new ‘FolkStation’ festival at Havenstreet over the weekend of 15th to 17th August.

Bringing a welcome relief to ‘big festival fatigue’, FolkStation offers two days of timeless folk, blues, jazz and Celtic-rock set within the perfect arena of Havenstreet Station on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

Performances will not only take place at Havenstreet, but by using the Islands (mini) rail network we will be performing in Ryde, Sandown, Shanklin, and at Wootton and Smallbroook stations.

Throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday, FolkStation is presenting a range bands, singers and musicians on the main stage and at other locations on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

They will be supported by a number of Morris sides adding a special flavour to the event, with sides from the Island plus the Leicester Morris Men dancing on the platforms and around the stations.

FolkStation Organiser Malcolm Hector said, “Both days will offer something new to sample and enjoy, and in some cases it will take a steam train ride to find the performers!

On Friday evening there will be a ceilidh, Saturday evening Mad Dog Mcrea will be in concert. During the day on both Saturday and Sunday there will be performances on the main stage and at other locations.

FRIDAY – The start of the Festival with a Ceilidh commencing at 7pm. The pizza van and the bar will be open from 4pm. A folk club will also run in the AV room during the evening. The Ceilidh, bar and AV room will all close at 11pm.

SATURDAY - There are scheduled performances throughout the day. The Station Café will be open during the day, and the Pizza Van from 4pm, the bar from 11am. Everything closes at 11pm.
Saturday evening is the main Concert with Mad Dog Mcrea and Janine French.

SUNDAY - Scheduled performances occur throughout the day, with the final concert on the main stage at 4pm. We hope that all performers will be able to go to this to round off the weekend.
