Fire Destroys Thatched Chinese Restaurant in Ryde.

Fire broke out early this morning at the Beijing Palace opposite the Canoe Lake in Ryde. The emergency services attended and it took six fire engines with aerial appliances and breathing equipment to tackle the blaze. However, fire crews had to withdraw from the scene at around 8am when the thatched building collapsed. Â
An investigation into how the blaze started is underway, Isle of Wight fire service have stated the cause has not yet been established and the structural safety of the building is being assessed.
