Monochrome Miscellany: Ventnor Winter Gardens [ November 1, 2010 to November 25, 2010. ]
Monochrome Miscellany, as the title suggests, covers a variety of photographic subjects from portraits through to landscapes and winter trees. Using a number of techniques and cameras Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group photographers managed to capture “something for everyone”.

5th November 2010: Yarmouth Carnival Committees’ Guy Fawkes celebration in the Square starting at 6pm. Entertainment by the Ryde Extreme Performers and Mat Wood plus the Fat Samba Band. 5th November 2010: Remember, remember, the 5th of November and experience a Bonfire night with a difference by joining the Sandown Lantern Parade. Expect costumed characters, fire, lanterns and amazing floats and bands parading through the town’s streets, all lit with thousands of colourful lights. The procession starts at 6.30pm and finishes with a grand fireworks finale over the bay at 8pm. 9th November 2010: The Isle of Wight Ramblers are holding a Baton Walk to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Ramblers. The Isle of Wight Baton Walk, Blackgang View Point Car Park, 9th November 2010, a 7.5 mile walk along the coast and then passing the Hoy monument and St Catherine’s Oratory.
9th November – 5th December 2010: Brannon Engravings at Brading Roman Villa A unique collection of original Brannon ‘Vectis Scenery’ engravings is set for public viewing for the first time in more than 30 years. The collection of almost 200 original Brannon engravings depicting the Isle of Wight in the 19th century will be featured in a month-long exhibition at Brading Roman Villa later this autumn… The Roman Villa will host this year’s return of the Vectis Scenery exhibition between Saturday, 6th November and Sunday, 5th December, from 11am to 3pm each day.

9th November 2010: The Isle of Wight Council’s Trading Standards advice session on how to buy safely online. This will take place in Sandown Library between 0900 – 1530.
Further sessions will be held on, 29th November 2010: Freshwater Library, 18th January 2011: Cowes Library and Ventnor Library on 22nd February 2011.

11th November 2010: Carisbrooke Castle a Field of Remembrance will be opened at 11am, for people to pay tribute to family members who lost their lives while serving their country.
Located in the grounds of Carisbrooke Castle, people will be invited to place crosses in the garden in honour of loved ones lost serving their country. A special service of remembrance will take place in the garden at 11am on 11th November led by the Venerable Caroline Baston Archdeacon of the Isle of Wight. Info on air-source heat pumps, recently successfully installed in Chale, will be featured. info about free installation of solar panels and the generous tariffs paid by energy companies to householders. Info will be available on grants for insulating homes. Organised by the Footprint Trust at the Riverside Centre, Newport. Friday 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.

17th – 18th November 2010: British Cod Championships 2010: This year, instead of running the competition from the Isle of Wight, the British Cod Championships will now be running from Lymington on Wednesday 17th Thursday 18th November 2010. This popular event, attracts top prize money with £1,000 for the person catching the heaviest cod each day, and £1,000 for the person who catches the most cod over two days. The format will remain the same as in previous year’s and at the end of each day a weigh-in, will decide the winners. More from the Island Pulse here.. 29th November 2010: The sounds of Christmas will ring out at Island churches during the festive season thanks to Cowes Concert Band. All Saints’ Church, Gurnard, on 29th November at 7.45pm. 6th December the band performs at Binstead Methodist Church at 8pm. On 13th December they cross the Medina to perform at East Cowes Methodist Church at 8pm and the final concert is at St Mary’s Church, Cowes, on 20th December at 8pm. 30th November 2010: Renowned Photographer and Author Guy Edwardes is coming to the Isle of Wight to give a “Nature and Landscape Photography Presentation” to Sandown and Shanklin District Camera Club. Guy is in great demand and regularly presents his work to various clubs and organisations around the UK. Entry is FREE!
