Eco Island 2008

The first Eco Island 2008 discussions begin today, at Cowes Yacht Haven on the Isle of Wight.
The high-profile conference with internationally-renowned speakers such as Ellen MacArthur, OBE, Dr Vanessa Lawrence, Professor Bill Wakeham, Professor Sir Ghillean Prance, Sir Terry Farrell, The Rt Revd Dr Kenneth Stevenson and David Taylor will place the Island firmly on the international stage.
The green conference talks, hope to set out the Isle of Wight Council vision for 2020 and plan for how they will make it happen. The event will inspire businesses and organisations to back the Eco-Island vision that aims to see the Island completely self-sufficient in renewable energy and with the country’s lowest carbon footprint by 2020.

Review: 350 delegates heard from a range of inspirational and internationally-famous key note speakers on how the future of the Isle of Wight will focus on the theme of sustainability. Download the programme here.
Delegates included community and business leaders from the Island and the rest of the UK. They focused on how to engage business investment in encouraging energy efficiency and environmental awareness.
This event places the Isle of Wight on the world map, in terms of inward investment and renewable technology innovation. It will be a regular annual event, to showcase Island businesses and to publicise the progress being made on the Island’s footprint.
