Earthwatch @ Cowes Week
Jul 4th, 2009 | By Lucy Johnson | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse
Earthwatch supporters, Bill Holt and Mark Styles – two experienced sailors raising money for Earthwatch through their participation in the 2009 Rolex Fastnet Race – invite you to join them alongside Earthwatch ambassador and BBC television presenter Paul Rose for the Friday of Cowes Week, 7th August.
To further raise awareness of the Oceans Appeal, Earthwatch ambassador Paul Rose (pictured) is preparing to take to the waves for the Fastnet Race in August.
Paul says,
‘I am really excited about setting sail with the crew of the ‘Polar Bear’ and to flying the flag for Earthwatch . The seas around the UK and the multitude of species that live in them are severely threatened by pollution, development and over-fishing.
Earthwatch is carrying out vital scientific research here in the UK and around the world to help us understand and protect our precious oceans. By getting involved in the Fastnet Race challenge, I hope to help Earthwatch to raise awareness of these urgent environmental problems and of course to have a lot of fun in the process!’
You too can help support Earthwatch, for a minimum donation of £150 per person in support of Earthwatch’s Oceans Appeal you can join the crew to enjoy a one-hour morning sail (conditions permitting) aboard the Polar Bear, followed by drinks and canapés on board in the afternoon, and a fabulous fireworks show at night.
Space is limited to 12 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact Director of Development Michael Triff on 01865 318836 or mtriff@earthwatch.org.uk.
