Duck Race on the River Yar

Isle of Wight Easter Duck RaceYarmouth The Yarmouth Carnival Annual Duck Race will be held on Easter Saturday Saturday (30th March 2013) at 4.30pm, when 1000 bright yellow plastic ducks, all numbered, will be released into the River Yar.

Yarmouth Carnival Committee have once again organised the annual ‘Duck Race’ and everyone is invited to watch and cheer the ducks on from several vantage points by Yarmouth Sailing Club or on the bridge.

1000 little yellow plastic ducks all numbered will be released into the River Yar. The first four to reach the bridge, on the tide, are the winners. The numbers coincide with tickets sold prior to the race, in and around the town and on the day. The winning numbers all receive a prize.

It is usually a very popular event with a good crowd attending.

Locals and visitors are welcome to join in.

The more people that attend the more fun it is for everyone including the hard working Yarmouth Carnival Committee.
