Isle of Wight Police are appealing for a motorist to come forward after a young cyclist was injured in a collision in Sandown. The six-year-old girl from Sandown was cycling along Salisbury Way at around 2pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 when a collision involving a car took place.
The cyclist fell from her bike and received injuries, which were not life threatening.
Investigating officer PC Simon Richardson of the Isle of Wight Roads Policing Unit (RPU) said:
“Officers were told that the car was a silver people c= arrier style vehicle and that the driver did stop after the collision to ch= eck on the cyclist’s condition. However, we understand the motorist drove away shortly afterwards without leaving her details. I’m appealing for this driver to come forward so we can establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision. The driver was described as a middle aged woman with sho= ulder length blonde hair.
“Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw a silver people carrier vehicle in the Salisbury Way and Perowne Way area of Sandown on Tuesday afternoon.”
