The Roads Policing Unit will carry out extra high visibility patrols to deter people from getting behind the wheel while unfit through alcohol or drugs.
Last year 3,581 people were arrested in the area for drink-drive offences. The month-long education and enforcement campaign to tackle the growing problem has been launched by police.
