Do You Support Wind Power On The Isle of Wight?

Oct 12th, 2009 | By Chris Wakeley | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

In reference to a letter from Karena who wrote:  ’I SUPPORT WIND POWER ON THE ISLAND’ .

We have at least three public events coming up where we will be chatting to residents, but public comment so far has been really positive and everyone is very pragmatic about our need for power and our own turbines.

I’ve attached a blank copy (see below) of our latest support letter in case you have any friends and family who are interested in signing one.

These are going to go to the planning dept first, and a copy of councillors afterwards. And of course if you could send it to your members via e-mail that would be great.  It’s better if they all get posted back via Ray Harrington-Vail as he is helping collate them so we can keep a count.

Also, we are urging everyone to go back on-line to the council planning application page and put in a support comment. The department is scanning and publishing all letters, regardless of whether they are written by the same person multiple times, so even if you have written in the past it is well worth writing again by 23 October.

I wanted to write to you to express my support for on-shore wind power on the Isle of Wight. I feel that it’s important for you to know that there are many people who have remained silent in the past but now feel happy to voice their support.

I support the council’s eco-island initiative and see on-shore turbines as an integral part of this exciting venture and I would like to support you and the council in this worthwhile endeavour.

In particular I want to support the Cheverton Wind Turbine Application
TCP/21144/E   P/00021/09

I am also sending a copy of this letter to my local councillor —————-, as I want them to know what my position is with regards to the installation of on-shore turbines

Kind regards,
Signed…………………………………………………..
