Olympic flame bearer Dame Ellen MacArthur is raising funds for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust by selling her Official London 2012 Olympic Torch on an online auction site.
Dame Ellen MacArthur carried the Olympic Torch through East Cowes on the Isle of Wight on Saturday 14th July.
The Torch has been very kindly donated to raise money for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust www.ellenmacarthurcancertrust.org, a charity that takes young people recovering from cancer sailing to help rebuild their confidence.
In addition to the torch, the highest bidder will also receive the torch bearers uniform worn on the day, signed by Ellen MacArthur, the torch bearers handbook and a letter confirming Ellen’s selection to carry the torch.
The torch is made up of an inner and an outer aluminium alloy skin held in place by a cast top piece and base. It is perforated by 8000 circles and stands 800mm high. It has been decommissioned by removing the pin and canister.
