A small speed boat that went aground in the Solent this morning caused Cowes RNLI lifeboat to be launched early this morning.
The 14 foot boat, with two people on board, had gone aground on a sand bank at Salt Mead Ledge, west of Thorness Bay, after damaging its propeller.
The lifeboat, helmed by James Findley, arrived on the scene at 7.19 am. Crew member Neil Archer went aboard the speed boat with a line and it was eventually towed back to Gurnard Marsh, where it is based.
