Cowes Lifeboat Tows Stranded Yacht

Cowes Lifeboat Races to the Aid of Stranded Yacht

A yacht with engine trouble and problems with its sails in a windy Solent had to be towed to safety by Cowes RNLI lifeboat last (Tuesday) night.

The Hamble-based Beneteau Oceanis 37 ‘Thursday Island’ had radioed HM Coastguards for help just before 10.30 pm when a mile off Gurnard.

The yacht, with a man and woman on board, was towed into Shepards Marina, Cowes, by the lifeboat, which was helmed by Simon Hawkins.
