Further water quality tests at Cowes beach by the Environment Agency have shown that the water does meet strict EU guidelines.
During routine tests on 9th August, a sample fell below these standards, although the reasons were not known. Since then further tests on the water have been carried out, with each one passing.

Cowes beach itself was not affected and members of the public were able to continue using it as normal.
The Quality Coast Award Flag for Cowes Beach, which was removed by the council as a precaution following the test, has now been put back.
