Isle of Wight Family & Adult Community Learning

To promote Community Learning on the Isle of Wight, the IW Council Adult and Community Learning Service, provide learning opportunities for adults, families and children in six areas across the Island; Newport, Cowes/East CowesBay Area, West Wight, Ryde, and Ventnor.

In addition the Isle of Wight Carnival Learning Centre now provides a wide programme of carnival and creative arts including carnival, workshops, lantern making, decorative crafts and information technology.  (Full details available in the Isle of Wight Community Learning Service brochure links below)

Taking part in a learning activity can develop your confidence and self-esteem and lead to greater involvement in work and community activities and provides opportunties that can develop knowledge, understanding and skills throughout your life. 

To assist learning and develop links between the family, individuals and local communities,  the learning service publishes brochures of termly activities which are available in libraries, leisure centres, doctor and dentist surgeries, community centres and are available through Island schools.

    • Develop learning opportunities through Museums, Libraries, Arts, and Sport

Most opportunities incur a course fee in order to offset material and venue costs. Full details of all courses including enrolment arrangements, costs and any concessions can be obtained direct from the organiser (see below).

Adult and Community Learning courses are generously subsidised by the Isle of Wight Council, Learning and Skills Council, European Social Fund and IW Economic Partnership – Leader + funding for rural programmes.
