Coastal Evolution @ Dimbola

Luke Ellison builds on ’Coastal Abstraction‘ and now to exhibit ‘Coastal Evolution’ @ Dimbola Lodge in April 2010.
Too often we pass by the natural world around us, too often we aspire to fill our lives with man made materialistic desires.
Luke’s latest photographic enamel series ‘Coastal Evolution’ continues to explore the natural beauty, elemental structures and character of the diverse ever-evolving Isle of Wight Coastline.
Building on his work from the series ‘Coastal Abstraction’ in which he exhibited alongside Eric Geddes in June 2008 at Quay Arts, his new series ‘Coastal Evolution’ builds on his attention to detail and an appreciation of the true beauty of his surroundings.
Luke only uses a compact professional digital camera as he believes that using expensive technical equipment and the associated software often complexes and overshadows the purity of his creations.
Luke has recently helped develop/commissioned probably the first ever set of photographic vitreous enamel panels with a local island company called A.J Wells, using selected digital images from his ‘Coastal Abstraction’ series.
The ability to produce photographic enamel panels has only recently been developed, and still remains in its infancy. It stretches the limitations of this historical process and photographic media using a highly skilled, pioneering process that has many complications.
