Christmas Story Competition For Charity
Nov 9th, 2009 | By Carolyn Keene | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseSome good news for budding writers, the Wight Fair Writers Circle have launched a Christmas Short Story Competition to benefit worthy causes namely the Isle of Wight Hospice and Love Russia Charity.
If you can write a tale with a Yuletide flavour then this Christmas short story competition will be just your scene! The Wight Fair Writers Circle are looking for original, unpublished, work from Island authors with a Christmas theme.
Closing date for all entries is Sunday 6th December 8th 2009. Entry costs £4 per story for Adults, £2 per story for under 18’s and £2 per story for the under 12’s. All proceeds to be shared between the Earl Mountbatten Hospice and Love Russia Charity. Winners to be announced 22nd December 2009 at a reception hosted by Books2Love
There are three categories in the competition, under 12 years old, 12 to 18 years old and Adults, so everyone can join in the fun. There are lots of prizes for the winners and a selection of the stories will be published in The Isle of Wight County Press Newspaper and Website.
Other prizes include:
Course fees for a Writing Course @ The Isle of Wight College, Mascot for the day at Newport FC, Cinema Tickets, Speedway Tickets, Manicures, £50 Gift Cards and a whole raft of other prizes all kindly donated by local Businesses. There will be at least 5 great prizes in each category.
