The Children's Guide To the Isle of Wight.

Next month, we can expect to see a new and exciting guide to the Isle of Wight.  The candid and colourful, guide, was written and illustrated by Island children for visiting children and their families.

Around 200 Island children contributed to the guide, which reflects the views of the children of the Isle of Wight about the places they like the most, including:

The best beaches for building sandcastles, finding fossils, catching crabs
The best place for an ice cream
Which visitor attractions they like – and why!
What to do on a ‘Dream Day’, come rain or shine and a great deal more….!

Poetry, drawings and ‘insider’ comments make this a treat of a book that will delight visitors and residents alike.  Around 200 Island children have contributed, and all are credited.

Pop along to the at Quay Arts at 12 noon on Sat 12th July and meet the Editorial Team of children age 6 to 12, who helped Island 2000 Trust and designer Jonathan Ward, who put this unique book together.

They will be at the Launch to talk about how they selected the content and decided what the book should look and feel like.

From 10am – 12pm there’s a free drop-in ‘Put in on the Map’ and ‘My IOW’ book-making workshop for children to come and help create a giant map full of drawings of their favourite Island places, and for families to make their own book of drawings.  At 12 noon there will be a short presentation and an opportunity for questions to the Editorial Team and then the cutting of the celebratory cake!
