Cowes lifeboat went well out of its usual operational area to take part in an extensive co-ordinated search for a woman believed to have jumped from the high road bridge over the River Itchen at Southampton.

Children’s Heart Surgery To Stay Local

The long awaited announcement has been made that Southampton General Hospital is to remain a specialist paediatric heart surgery centre following the controversial Safe and Sustainable consultation. The news has been warmly received by Island MP Andrew Turner, who had worked with other MPs on a cross-party campaign to keep the centre open. Last June Mr Turner helped campaigners deliver a petition to Downing Street with over 230,000 signatures, including many from the Island.

Isle of Wight NHS Trust Welcome Continuation of Childrens Heart Services

The Joint committee of PCTs have made their final decision about Childrens Heart Surgery and Isle of Wight NHS Trust is absolutely delighted with the news that this will include the continuation of surgery at Southampton.
