The Isle of Wight Council has been asked by the government to share with other local authorities details of its successful local schemes to help young people into work.
Superfast broadband is a step closer for homes and businesses in rural area across the Isle of Wight. Issues relating to state aid have now been resolved by the government and EU meaning the Isle of Wight Council can push ahead with planned investment in an Island-wide superfast broadband network.
Self Assessment tax cheats will be targeted by a new HM Revenue and Customs taskforce. The taskforce will put the spotlight on people abusing the Self Assessment system fraudulently to claim back money they are not entitled to. It is expected to recover £6 million and prevent future fraudulent repayments being claimed.

The overnight shelter in Newport for those unfortunate enough to be homeless and living on the streets is to open this evening (6 February) up to and including Sunday 10 February due to a period of cold weather forecast for the coming days.
