John Coles reports: Red Funnel Ferries took one of the longest loads on a cross-Solent ferry to the Isle of Wight last month and it was no April fool.
The two giant tanks measuring approximately 29 metres long, were being shipped to the Isle of Wight on the vehicle ferry Red Eagle by Yorkshire based CC Transport. (more…)

Simon Smith reports:Â Â The sounds of brass will ring out at St John’s Church, Ryde, on Monday (March 10th) when Cowes Concert Band, the Isle of Wight’s oldest established brass band, will perform music for all tastes under the baton of Andy Norman.
The concert is the latest in a series of successful performances at Island churches during the last 18 months. Under Andy’s tenure the band has gone from strength to strength and now boasts a full complement of 25 players. (more…)
John Coles reports:  Isle of Wight Police investigating allegations of an assault at an Island nightclub are appealing for witnesses.
Officers were called out at around 2am on Sunday, March 2nd, by staff at the Balcony nightclub on the Esplanade in Ryde. It was to reports of an altercation inside the club between a number of customers and staff. (more…)
John Coles reports:  Detectives on the Isle of Wight have identified the man who was found dead in Ryde cemetery on Wednesday, February 27th. He was Daniel Hillier, who is believed to have lived in the Ryde area.
Mr Hillier’s death is not being treated as suspicious and the file will be passed to the coroner.
Carolyn Keene reports: Isle of Wight Police are appealing for information after the body of a man was discovered at Ryde cemetery. The body was found by a member of the public at around 7.12am on Wednesday, February 27th.
Detectives are not treating the death as suspicious but are seeking help to identify the deceased. (more…)
A warning has been issued by Isle of Wight police after two men were arrested in Ryde over the use of imitation firearms.
Just after 8pm on Wednesday, February 6th, police received reports that a man had a gun in his car. A number of police officers were deployed including officers from armed response, the dog support unit and the air support unit. (more…)
