Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service Looking For Retained Firefighters
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is holding information sessions for anyone interested in becoming a retained firefighter. There are vacancies at Cowes, East Cowes, Bembridge, Freshwater and Yarmouth Fire Stations.
Star Count 2013 – No Telescope Required
Isle of Wight Stargazers are being asked to count the number of stars they can see (with the naked eye) within the constellation of Orion. The national Star Count will take place between Friday 8th February – Monday 18th February.
British Empire Medal Honour For Shanklin Man

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Is Cleared For Night Landings
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been able to bring into operation two new landing sites during the hours of darkness. A secondary landing site, at Sea Close on the Isle of Wight, has been arranged with temporary landing lights and surveyed for night landing.
