Isle of Wight Volunteers
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is holding information sessions for anyone interested in becoming a retained firefighter. There are vacancies at Cowes, East Cowes, Bembridge, Freshwater and Yarmouth Fire Stations.
Isle of Wight Stargazers are being asked to count the number of stars they can see (with the naked eye) within the constellation of Orion. The national Star Count will take place between Friday 8th February – Monday 18th February.
Congratulations to Neil Cole, Retained Firefighter, for being awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the Queen’s New Year Honours List ‘For services to the community of the Isle of Wight’.
Following the tremendous success of the 2012 Wild West Solent Swim the date for 2013 has been announced! Entries are now open for the swim which will take place on August 18th 2013.
After missing her first shift on Monday in over 10 years of volunteering for Earl Mountbatten Hospice, Christine Candler had sadly died at her home and was found by a concerned Hospice colleague.
