Changing Date Of Local Elections 2009

The Government are to seek Parliament’s approval to move the 2009 local elections in England to the same date as the European elections. The decision follows consultation over the summer which closed on 11th August and showed overwhelming support for the change.

New Chairman Elected To Isle of Wight Council.

The Isle of Wight Council has a new chairman for 2008.  Councillor Arthur Taylor was voted in and took over the top civic job from outgoing chairman Councillor Roger Mazillius at full council’s annual meeting held on Wednesday (April 16th).
