As summer swings into action, the Isle of Wight, could appear to visitors as a little Carnival Crazy!

Nowhere is the Island’s friendly, community spirit more evident than in its Town carnivals that take place throughout the year. 

For its small compact size and with a population of around 150,000, the Isle of Wight abounds with school and community carnival groups that work all year round to produce the fabulous displays you will inevitably witness in this year’s 18 Carnivals.  In fact, the Isle of Wight has more active carnival participants per square mile than anywhere else in the country.

Throughout the school holidays the season continues with local carnivals in most towns and  villages. The final being Ryde Carnival, which ends the summer season in late August, which features groups from all over the Island and mainland too.
