Capture Nature In The Frame For Wildlife Trust

Are you a budding amateur photographer and inspired by the wildlife on the Isle of Wight? Do you have an eye for the landscapes and for people enjoying the great outdoors?

If so, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust want you to send in your best photographs for their Nature in the Frame Photo Competition and you could win amazing prizes!

The competition is open to members and non-members of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust who are amateur not professional photographers and the closing date is 31st August 2009.

Prizes on offer:

  • 1st prize – A day’s one-to-one tuition with landscape and wildlife photographer Chas Spradbery, plus £100 donated by Southern Water 
  • 2nd prize – £100 to spend at London Camera Exchange (Southampton High St branch)
  • 3rd prize (x2) – A photo canvas (donated by Wight canvas and Kall-Kwik, Winchester)
  • Under-16 prize – A Technika 7 megapixel compact camera (donated by The Green Room, part of D&E Office Supplies)

The winners and two runners-up of each category will receive framed certificates. The winners of each category will go forward for the main prizes.

There are six categories:

  • Trust reserves;
  • Your local environment;
  • Wonderful wildlife;
  • Wildlife close-ups (macro shots);
  • People and wildlife; and
  • A category for 16-year olds and under.

Sending in your entries

Photos can be submitted as prints (write your name, address and chosen category on the back).  The entry fee is £2 for members, £3 for non-members and is per photo. You can enter as many times as you like.

Send them to: Photographic Competition, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Beechcroft House, Vicarage Lane, Curdridge, Hants SO32 2DP.

Digital images can be submitted on a CD or by emailing them to photocomp@hwt.org.uk. Prints and CDs will only be returned on receipt of a stamped addressed envelope. Remember to include your name, address, contact details and your chosen category.

The closing date is 31st August 2009, you can send prints or digital images and winners will appear in the November 2009 issue of Natural World.

You do not need to be a Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust member to enter the Nature in the Frame Photographic Competition for 2009. However with trust membership costs from as little as £2 per month, a little subscription would help fund their vital conservation work.
