Swim to Bestival is back to make a splash for charity cash.  Hularama are hoping to get across the Solent once more, arriving at the summers last great festival, to help raise more money and awareness for their chosen charities.  Watch the video from last year’s swim:

This year the team are aiming to raise money for three important causes;

Imibala : a small but worthy charity created to assist underpriviledged children to access an education in South Africa.

Island Youth Water Activities Centre: is a voluntary organisation grant aided by the Isle of Wight Youth & Community Service. It is a Charity run for the benefit of all young people on the Isle of Wight.

Chernobyl Children’s Life Line (Gosport branch). They operate a used furniture shop called ‘Bumps and Scratches’, to raise funds and spread awareness of the Chernobyl Children Life Line and the effects of the disaster.

Leaving from Stokes Bay, Gosport, the twelve swimmers, who include St Catherine’s Charity director Suzanne Hudson, BBC Radio 1 producer Clare Chadburn, Karauke’s Lorraine Hardman, who only learned how to swim this January.

Breakbeat legend Paul ‘Trouble’ Arnold who is currently in remission after being diagnosed with Leukaemia last November and Brothers Alex & Tom Parkinson, will all be encouraged and coaxed along the way by Bestival compere, world renowned bon vivant and Cuban Brother, Miguel Mantovani from the safety of his speed boat.

With Navy lifeguards on hand just in case, they will be in the water for between 2 and 5 hours before emerging Andress-like from the salty Solent at Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight ready for three unbelievable days of partying
