Chilcott fishing the two-day event hosted by Western Wight Skippers association for only the second time registered five fish on day one totalling 44lb 11 ½ oz. With the overall prize of £1000 going to the angler with the most Cod over the two day competition his ½ oz made all the difference when Len Pyke also on five fish tipped the scales at 44lb 11oz. Pyke from Milford on sea did have the best Cod of the first day with a fish of 22lb 11oz receiving the £1000 day prize and was second overall.

As previously reported on Island Pulse: 11th – 12th November 2009: British Cod Championships 2009: This popular event, attracts top prize money with £1,000 for the person catching the heaviest cod each day, and £1,000 for the person who catches the most cod over two days.
