Are You Still Waiting For A Rebate?

Jul 2nd, 2009 | By Julie Ratcliffe | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

The Federation of Small Businesses, which covers Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, want small businesses to let them know if they are having difficulties in Tax and VAT rebates.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is receiving complaints from small firms that they are suffering delays in receiving rebates on tax and VAT payments. After making enquiries on members’ behalf, the organisation’s policy officers have been told that the government has put extra resources in place to deal with the backlog. However, the FSB is asking its members to help them monitor the situation.

Ken Moon is Chairman of the Wessex Region, which covers Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight.  Is asking businesses to let the FSB know if they are having such difficulties.

“We are recommending that our members call the FSB’s free Legal Helpline if they are experiencing problems in getting the rebates that they are entitled to. It would also be useful if they make one of our regional organisers aware. This will assist us in keeping pressure on the government at a time when cash flow is so important to small businesses.”

The FSB has been told that the government is putting in extra resources and the backlog should be cleared by the end of the financial year. This applies to tax rebates but the FSB has also heard that there are excessive delays in payment of VAT rebates also. Any businesses having such difficulties should contact the FSB Regional Office on 01425 280080.
